Koji Tagi brings nearly four decades of birding expertise and a distinguished background in wildlife conservation to his experience as a birding guide and tour leader in Japan. He studied Wildlife Management at the University of Queensland, Australia, which provided him with comprehensive knowledge of ecosystem dynamics and species conservation principles.

His professional career in biodiversity conservation has involved him in working with Japan's Ministry of the Environment, the international NGO Wetlands International, and JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency).

Koji has been guiding birding tours professionally for several years, working with established tour operators and individuals. His guiding philosophy centers on showcasing Japan's endemic species along with birds that are unique to Northeast Asia, ensuring that international visitors experience species they cannot observe elsewhere in the world, from the iconic Japanese Crane to the rare Okinawa Rail.
