John Wright
John Wright is a birding and photographic guide based in Kyushu, Japan. He has recently joined Japan Nature Guides as our man in Kyushu.
John has lived in Kyushu, Japan's southern main island, for the past several years and has experience in guiding visiting birders around local hotspots year round, however spring, autumn and winter are the best months for birding in the area, with spring and autumn particularly interesting for shorebirds and passerine migrants and winter for cranes and waterfowl. As he photographs birds and other wildlife as well as viewing them, he is particularly knowledgeable about the best locations to get close to birds without disturbing them, as well as having the best angles for viewing/photography depending on the time of day. He has also guided visitors to other regions in Japan, such as Eastern Hokkaido in winter and Hegurajima in spring and autumn, and is constantly adding locations to his list of birding spots to show travellers to Japan. John speaks Japanese fluently, and makes his own vehicle available when traveling with guests. He is experienced in giving his guests not only a great birding experience but also a view of Japan most visitors never get to see.
